Nardoni, Charles Joseph CHPD Retired, age 81, lifelong Chicago Heights resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5th at Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno. Retired Police Chief for the City of Chicago Heights. Bloom High School and Aurora College graduate. U.S. Army Veteran/Korea. Husband for 58 years of Geraldine (nee Cacciurri); father of Stanley (Luci) Nardoni, Kathy (Joseph) Horvath and Charles (Peggy) Nardoni; grandfather of Marc, Lindsey, Jason, Emily, David and Jennifer Nardoni; son of the late August Nardoni and Rose (nee Ruggieri); brother of Rose Perino and the late Frank, Geno and August Nardoni; beloved "Uncle Charlie" of many nieces and nephews, and respected "Chief"of his extended "Heights" family. Charlie began his 37 year career with the CHPD in 1956, after serving with the Military Police of the 7th Infantry Division in Korea. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1964, Lietuenant in 1968, Captain and Deputy Chief in 1971 prior to being named Chief in 1991. Charlie was a driving force behind the many philanthropic deeds of the Chicago Heights Kiwanis Noon Club, and member of Chicago Heights V.F.W Post, American Legion Post 131 and Catholic War Veterans Post 1060. Private services were held Thursday. Interment Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood. Memorials will be directed to Illinois Veterans Home, One Veterans Drive, Manteno, IL 60950.
