Blackman, John Edward 70, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond, Indiana. He was a Vietnam War veteran and retired Chicago Police Officer. A true friend, he will be remembered for his devotion to God, family, and love of fishing. His marriage to Dr. Charlotte A. (Davis) Blackman produced two children. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Lisa (Jose) Moreno of Chicago, Illinois, Dawn (Derrick) Harris of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren; one sister, Frances (Isaac) Starks; two brothers, David and Phillip (Lisa) Blackman; nine nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Beth Eden Baptist Church, 11121 S. Loomis, Chicago, Illinoison Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Lakeview Baptist Church,830 Shumacola Trail, Tupelo, MS 38801, in his honor.
