Ralph Smith took me under his wing in 1971 when I was a 23 yr. old Detective at Area 1, G.A. Ralph taught all the young new guys the right way to do things and he made sure we didn't get messed over by the bosses who thought we needed years as a detective instead of brains and a good work ethic. A truly terrific police officer and a great person in general. I retired as a Lieutenant and always remembered Ralph's lessons when I was supervising my men.
