Hey Pop, it's been a tough 11 years with you. I know you're watching and cheering for me and most likely shaking your head smiling. Try and stay out of trouble or at least keep it to a minimum. Keep watching over your grandchildren, we talk and laugh about the memories you left us daily. Love and Miss You Tons...Semper Fi!!!

Can't believe its been two years since my buddy went home. His laugh is irreplaceable and his smile is never forgotten...what a true joy to be around. As we all walked to our cars at the end of each hard days work, Pops never failed to tell us all "Safe journey home, men." I will never forget that and I wish him the same.

Hiya Pop! I asked a friend recently "How they are doing?" They replied " Living the dream" It has stayed with me since I heard it. It sums up what you wanted for all those that crossed your path. You wanted them to love life...and if they needed something...you helped so that they could "live their dream!" But you also embraced being in people's live to witness their dreams unfold. Amazing!
2 years seems so short and LONG at the same time since you went home...so suddenly. I don't question that with recent events you have been in our presence...we are all at a different place in our lives celebrating your legacy and missing you. We definitely think about you often and of course laugh at your expense often as well. Tonight a little bit of family time with donuts and icecream in your honor. We love you Pop. The Marx Brothers do too!!

Merry Merry Christmas Pop! Keeping your spirit alive as we celebrated at Mass last night. Your man, Armand was chosen to walk
up baby Jesus and put him in the manger. I know you were proud!

We have been talking about you alot lately as we sit together after dinner or before bed. It makes us all laugh remembering your craziness! Such good good times. We love you so much and miss you like crazy. XO!

This was such a nice way to remember John's untimely passing. I have read all of these memorials. I too miss him - he was lucky to have such a marvelous family. Love to you all Nancy (the "opera" singer-the Rivas girls know what that means!!)

Dear Lawrence and Laura,
I know that your fathers passing is a great loss to your family, but you may not realize what a loss he was to his friends. I was not your father's best friend, but WHENEVER you saw him, he would give you a smile, a kind word and a laugh or two. He did not tell jokes, but he had a GREAT sense of humor that he would share with those around him.

It still doesn't feel real. When I go to the house I'm still expecting you to walk through the garage door with that smile, 'Hey Missa Pooh', and hug and kiss you always had for me. So many times I wanted to call for advice, or tell you about something I saw that you would like, but you're not there to answer anymore. I miss your laugh and unwavering love. I hope you are happy and finally stress free. I struggle every day but you know that and I know you hear me when I talk to you. I love you and miss you so much....

March 24, 2014

Grandpa,
Words can't even explain how much I miss you much less explain how quickly this year has gone by. There's so many things I wish I could tell you face to face but I know you're there. I hope you were beaming this weekend at my musical, it wasn't the same without you there. Sometimes it still seems unreal... love you so much.

John, how I miss you. I miss our occasional lunches and how we talked about how blessed we are with our children Nita and Lawrence. What good parents they became and the beautiful grandchildren they blesses us with. Your face would just light up at the mention of our grand babies, they are terrific and you would be so proud. As I say each morning and night when I look at your picture, miss you and will always love you. Take care of our children and grand babies from heaven. Estella

Hey Pop, still waiting for your phone call telling us you are back from your usual trip. Every time life would give me a shot you were there to patch me up and get me back in the fight. Still trying to get up after your death, I know you are still in my corner. This one is going to take a little more time but I'll get there. I miss you so much, I know you are listening every morning when I talk to you. I Love You Always!! Semper Fi!!!

All I know is I lost a very good friend and confidant when I lost John. I have a video of him laughing and making others laugh. When I need a boost I play that video and think of how he viewed life. One of a kind and I miss him to this day. R.I.P. my dear friend. To the family, I know you know what a great guy he is and I am so sorry for your loss.

March 24, 2014

One year later, Pop, we continue to celebrate you and your legacy! Alysa, Armand, Arianna, Lawrence and I have moments where we just hug and hold each other because our hearts hurt so much. They all say they want to feel your hugs and hear your laugh just one more time. You taught them so much about life and they have many memories they keep in their hearts. The godwinks you send us to know you are with us, at certain moments, are amazing. We have all experienced them. Thank you! You would be proud of your babies, Pop. They are who they are because of you! We love you Pop and will think about you alot today, just as we do everyday...

Dear Sandoval family, John will not be forgotten in prayer and love. Always smiling and kind, generous and hilarious! I will continue to honor his life in contributions to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, which was so dear to him. I loved him so much. I am so happy he was able to see Sicily, and loved hearing him say "Ciao Bella!" Always speaking of his family and friends, the marine corps and local 1 buddies, always smiling!! A true blessing from God. He took great care of his second chance at life! He affected so many lives, remember that in light and peace. Prayers are surrounding you as is John.
