Baker, Robert N. Age 94, U.S. Army WWII Veteran. Beloved son of the late Robert and late Helen (nee Leyden). Third Degree Member of Knights of Columbus, Quigley Council #2428; member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #143; one of the founding fathers of the Gin Mill Golf Club. The Club is still in existence and is currently celebrating its 52nd year. Bob was still golfing in the club in 2005 when he was 86 years old. Bob was a Chicago White Sox fan and an avid Chicago Bear fan holding season tickets for 50 years. Bob would love to sing the Bears fight song, always giving a fist pump at the end. Bob was a kind, gentle and classy man. He leaves behind numerous friends that will miss him dearly. Funeral Friday, September 6, 2013, 9:00 am from the Pomierski Funeral Home, 1059 West 32nd St., Chicago, IL to St. Barbara Church, 2859 S. Throop St., Chicago, IL for 10:00am Mass. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL. Visitation Thursday 3:00 to 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to The St. Barbara Holy Name Society would be appreciated.
