Lewis III, Alfred Was born on December 31, 1948 in Montgomery, AL to the union of Alfred Lewis, Jr. and Louise Lewis. He made his transition on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. As a young child, his family moved to Chicago, IL. After he graduated from Harlan High School, he enlisted into the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge in 1972. Alfred accepted Christ at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Joliet, IL under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Isaac Singleton, Sr. Alfred met and married Debra V. Watts on July 12, 1980. To this union two children were born, Alfred IV and Kimberly. Alfred was employed by the United States Postal Service, where he retired from after many years of dedicated service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Lewis, Jr. and Louise Lewis, and his sister, Janice Lewis-Sutton. Alfred is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Debra V. Lewis; daughter, Kimberly Lewis; brother, Calvin Lewis; mother-in-law, Yvonne Cooper; father-in-law, Willie Watts, Jr. (Ester); stepmother-in-law, Brenda Watts; brother-in-law, Devin Cooper; sisters-in-law, Sherilyn Reynolds, Karen Watts and Sandra Logan; grandchildren, Amelia, Alfred V., Azelea, and Adrian; god children, Keshia Owens, Ke'Shaun Stevens, Ke'Arra Stevens, Ke'Ante, Cha'Nequa Stevens, and Brianna Cozy; special friends, Billie J. Simmons, Denise M. Woods, Charita R. Temple, Tina Thompson, and Stella Sallie; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 402 Singleton Pl., Joliet, IL. Service at 7:00 p.m., Pastor David G. Latimore, officiating. Interment Monday, July 1, 2013 10:00 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Minor-Morris Funeral Home 112 Richards St. (815)723-1283
