Thomas Mullarkey Obituary

Mullarkey Jr., Thomas William 82, of Spring, TX passed away at home surrounded by his family on March 3, 2013. Tom is survived by his wife, Madeleine (Mallette); his children, Thomas W., III, John (Lisa), Maureen (Steve) Miller, Marie (Tom) O'Connor, Edward Henriques, Marybeth (George) Milionis; sister, Jean Sapp; his grandchildren, and a large extended family. He is predeceased by his brother, Martin, and his first wife, Mary Therese (Condon). Tom met life with a boisterous song. He grew up on the south side of Chicago. After serving as a sergeant in the Korean War, he earned an electrical engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame ('56). In 1955, he married Terry. After her passing, he found love again with Madsie and they created a truly modern family. Ever the engineer, Tom was always building and tinkering. He built giant electrified PEACE and JOY signs for his parish in Oak Lawn, IL, and a backyard fort with extra material from the power plants he designed. Tom and Madsie came to Houston in 1977, where he quickly became an honorary Texan. Tom had a deep love for family, friends, faith and the Fighting Irish. His spirit, energy and belief love can conquer all will be deeply missed. The family will receive visitors at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Spring, TX on March 6th at 10 a.m. His funeral mass will be at 11 a.m., with his interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the St. Ignatius building fund. Go Irish!

Not sure what to say?

Darling, Life without you will never be the same, how I miss your beautiful smile, your twinkling eyes, your joyous laughter and most of all your wonderful hugs. I look forward to the day when you look me in the eyes and sing "And I Love You So".
Our Children have been incredible taking care of me, you must be so proud of them. I am the luckiest Widow in the world.

Mr. Mullarkey,

May the roads rise to meet you,
May the winds be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and may the rains fall softly upon your fields
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Fair winds and following seas, sir.
