Honigberg, Joel D. Prominent Chicago businessman and patron of the arts Joel D. Honigberg died at 90 on Friday, March 10, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Carol Honigberg, the concert pianist and artistic director of the Pilgrim Chamber Players of Highland Park; four children, including National Symphony cellist Steven Honigberg (Jessica); Janice Honigberg, founder and president of Sun Belle Inc., a major produce marketer and distributor; Robert Honigberg (Susan), a physician and head of medical affairs for a major pharmaceutical company; and Diane Steinberg (Richard), an educator and PhD who is Program Manager/Education Specialist at Stanford University Medical Center. Joel was the adoring and very proud grandfather of Bradley and Jesse Honigberg, Benjamin and Jason Steinberg, Lily and Clara Honigberg, and Julia and David Hedges. Funeral services are to be held Monday, March 13, at 11:30 a.m. at North Shore Suburban Synagogue Beth El, 1175 Sheridan Road, Highland Park. Burial to follow immediately at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie. A Shiva will be held that evening at Northmoor Country Club, 820 Edgewood Road, Highland Park, IL from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations made to the Pilgrim Chamber Players, 805 Moseley Road, Highland Park, IL 60035 (www.pilgrimplayers.org) or the Merit School of Music's Honigberg/Hedges Instruments Fund (www.meritmusic.org).
