Donna,
So sorry to hear of John's passing. I have fond memories of him on the Friday night bowling league. He was always just one of the guys and we had tons of fun together. His generousity was un-matched, he was a good sport, an above-average bowler, and just a great guy. My condolences to all his family and friends.

Donna, Selinda and I wish to express our deepest sympathy to you on the death of your husband John. John and I served on the IFDA board together for a few years. I enjoyed our conversations and the wisdom he shared with me. One of my fondest memories of John is when he brought some of the best pastries I have ever eaten to one of our board meetings in Springfield. Everyone loved them!
John was a gentleman and well respected on the IFDA board. We will miss him greatly.

Mrs. Baran,
My parents were neighbors who lived on Parkside avenue. I know you would remember my Dad, his name was Joe and he would always walk down the alley behind your funeral home with his dog "Tinkerbell". You and your husband always had time to talk and share recipes. My Dad spoke highly of your husband John and please accept our condolences from my Mom and our family.

When I first considered joining the funeral business, I joined an AOL funeral directors association and chatroom. Through email and that chatroom, John encouraged me to join the business, I can still remember clearly his encouraging words. I have been a licensed director now for five years, and in the business for eight. I am not certain that would be the case without John. I will miss seeing him at the association meetings, he was a gentleman who clearly made a difference in many lives. May your fond memories of him bring you comfort in this difficult time.

My sympathies to John's immediate family. I'm so sorry that he is gone from us. I only recently started to get to know my distant counsin John, only after my parents' deaths. My father Fred Baran was a counsin to John's father, and I have only vague memories of the family from decades ago. While time and distance may have separated us, John reached out to me when he learned of my father's, then my mother's death. John would drive into the loop occassionally, and when he did he would often call and suggest lunch in Greek town, where we would talk of our work, families, and would remember in our own ways our parents, and through this we recreated our own family connection to each other. I thank John for reaching out, reconnecting, and I will remember him. May he rest in peace.

Life is so fickle. Just when Johnny was beginning to really enjoy retirement and reap the rewards of his many years of service to others, he is taken from us. It all happened too quick and is surreal. We cherish the Cousins' Reunion he and Donna held - and it must have been a premonition that we all need to keep in contact with family and friends. Rest In Peace Johnny!
