Freshman religion in the fall of 1970; I think Bro. Vito was as scared and as nervous as we were! Bro. Vito always had a smile and a sense of calmness about him....obviously that served him well in life! Condolences to Bro. Vito's family and to the entire Marist community! May God hold you in the palm of his hand!

I first met Brother Vito when my daughter was a freshman at Marist and he was her guidance counselor throughout these past four years. My first impression of him was that of a kind, and caring individual, and everytime i would see him from that point on, he always had a smile on his face, and you could tell how much he genuinely loved being at Marist with the kids. I will remember Brother Vito as the only person that was able to get my daughter to open up about the tragedy in her life with the passing of her brother. For that I am truly, truly, thankful to him.
To Brother Vito's family, my deepest, sincerest, heartfelt condolences. He was truly a, genuine and remarkable imdividual who was taken too soon, and will be terribly missed.
Rest in Peace Brother Vito. The Keating Family

When you arrived at Marist HS for the first time as a freshman, you were inevitably nervous, a little anxious, & not sure what to make of this place full of 2,000 young men (at the time) and how you would fit into it.

Many, many different people soon made you feel welcome, relieved some of that anxiety & made you feel at home. No one did that better than Brother Vito.

His genuine warmth was palpable every single time you encountered him, no matter the situation. Whether the surrounding climate was one of joy, sadness, tension or frustration, Br. Vito was warm. All the time. Every time.

Br. Vito melted many "personal icebergs" throughout his life with that warmth. And the halls of Marist High School will always be a tad cooler than they used to be...

Rest in Peace, Br. Vito. Put in a good word for all of us with the man upstairs...

Vito is my cousin (2nd removed). His mother and my grandmother were sisters. I grew up with Vito, and his mother was my favorite and most beloved aunt in our family. I have wonderful memories of Vito. Even though he was 6 years older than I, as a child I connected with him. He was a wonderful story teller and could always make you laugh. I am grateful to have known Vito and will miss him.

I remember Br. Vito durung my days at Marist, as a quiet, kind and gentle man.
As an adult I learned that he may be kind and gentle, but he was also passionate about education. Which was illustrated through his development of the Marcellin program providing the opportunity for more kids to get a Marist education.
I feel fortunate my family's lives have been touched by Br Vito. My oldest son at Marist, my wife when he came to Barnabas to introduce the Marcellin program and my younger kids knowing him as the guy I would call out.."Hey Bro"...as he walked by our house on his way to 4pm Saturday mass at St. Barnabas. The kids asked "What's a Brother?" and I would explain. But if you knew Br. Vito, you'd know what a Brother is because he truely lived his life to help others. Thank you Brother Vito for being part of my life and for giving your life to others.

I am truly saddened by the death of Br. Vito. I knew Br. Vito when he first came to Marist as a young brother. He was a loyal client of mine in the travel business when I left Marist. I was always impressed by his gentleness and spirituality. My sympathy to his family and his Brothers. May he rest in peace

My sincere condolences and prayers are with his family and with the Marist Brothers of the Schools, whom Brother Vito served so faithfully since 1966. I will miss him very much, as will so many others.

Vito was a beacon of lived faith to all of us and we are the better for having had him touch our lives. I have been the recipient of his friendship, good humor, and prayers for many years and for that and so much more, I am grateful beyond words.

Now that his earthly strife has ended, he is, at last in genuine peace and enjoying the real presence of God. In essence, he has spent his entire life in preparation for this moment.
